The only major airport serving the city of Sofia, is Sofia Airport (SOF), it is situated 3 miles to the east of the city centre. It is a single terminal with runway facility and handles approximately 3.5 million passengers a year. Keep in mind that you have to scan your luggage at the entrance to the airport for security reasons.
