Major Airports in Sofia

The only major airport serving the city of Sofia, is Sofia Airport (SOF), it is situated 3 miles to the east of the city centre. It is a single terminal with runway facility and handles approximately 3.5 million passengers a year. The airport has recently been renovated and now has amenities including kiosk, café, ATM and banking. Keep in mind that you have to scan your luggage at the entrance to the airport for security reasons.

Airport Transportation in Sofia

A regular public bus to Sofia Airport runs from the city centre; look for service number 84. However, this is not a dedicated express bus to the airport, so allow around 20 minutes journey time. Some hotels offer a shuttle bus to Sofia Airport.

Currently, there is no train to Sofia International Airport.

A taxi to Sofia International Airport is the most convenient method of transport. We recommend that you pre-book before your departure by taxi to Sofia International Airport. Journey time should be around 10 minutes.
