Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) is located to the southwest of the city, just 8 km from the city centre. It’s the second largest airport in the country, only surpassed by Kuala Lumpur Airport. Each year an average of six million passengers pass through its facilities and an expansion is underway that will increase its capacity.

Airport Transportation in Kota Kinabalu

There are two ways to take a bus to Kota Kinabalu International Airport. One is from south station and the other is from the north station. There are also minibuses: No.16 goes to Terminal 1 and No.17 goes to Terminal 2. Both routes depart from the Wawasan station, but have irregular hours and end in the early afternoon. For this reason, the best alternative is to take a taxi to Kota Kinabalu International Airport. It is worth noting that at the moment there is no train to Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
