Ataturk International Airport (IST) is the largest airport in Istanbul and is located 15 miles west of the city centre. It welcomed 45 million passengers in 2012. The majority of International flights leave from Terminal 2. The airport has an onsite hotel and offers several passenger services such as conference halls, tourist information, first aid and pharmacy services, banks and currency exchanges and free Wi-Fi. The Terminal offers several shopping opportunities including some duty free options. The international terminal also has a mini food court on its arrivals level that offers coffee and Turkish pastries and sandwiches. You can take a subway train to Ataturk International Airport from just about anywhere in greater Istanbul. There is also a regularly scheduled bus to Ataturk International Airport from the city centre. You can take a taxi to Ataturk International Airport if you require the extra baggage room and don’t mind paying a little extra. They are readily available throughout Istanbul.
