Major Airports in Cairo

Cairo International Airport (CAI) is the busiest airport in Egypt and the second-busiest in all of Africa. The airport has four terminals. Terminal 2 has been closed since 2010 for renovation while Terminal 3 opens for pilgrimage once every year. You can commute between Terminals 1 and 3, which are 3km apart, by a free Cairo Airport Authority shuttle bus. All international airlines operate from Terminal 1.

Airport Transportation in Cairo

The Cairo international Airport is situated around 15 kilometres from the city. You can hop on to a bus to Cairo International Airport run by the Airport Bus Service from Tahrir Square, Mohandessin and Giza. The journey takes about 60 minutes.

A taxi to Cairo International Airport can be hired on a fixed fee basis. The journey is about an hour long but can take more time during traffic rush hour. You can also hire limousines if you prefer more comfort. There is no train to Cairo International Airport, so you will need to travel by road.
