Major Airports in Madrid

In Madrid, the local and busiest Spanish airport is Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD). It lies approximately 13 km from the city and has four well connected main terminals. As you may expect from a vibrant and bustling hub, Madrid-Barajas Airport offers travellers excellent shops, restaurants, business facilities, advice and tourist information points and comfortable lounges.

Airport Transportation in Madrid

In Madrid, frequent and well-organised transport networks ensure accessing the airport is relatively easy and comfortable. It is possible to take a bus to Madrid-Barajas Airport where all four terminals are serviced by buses and shuttles both on and off-site. The journey from the city to the airport takes around 30 minutes by road.

A taxi to Madrid-Barajas Airport is also easy to arrange although there is an additional charge for airport traffic. Madrid-Barajas Airport has a designated taxi area outside the terminal buildings, making finding a cab relatively easy. The train to Madrid-Barajas Airport is also an option by using the metro, which connects the airport and many city regions.
